My first career straight out of high school (Moanaloa High class of 82), was in military communications. After six years of serving in the US Navy, I worked at NRTF Lualualei (transmitter site) in Nanakuli for 12 years. That environment was not for me, so I began switching gears in the early 90's towards massage therapy.
Having a natural curiosity for the workings of the human body and an instinctual drive to help people led me to the wellness arena. In 1994, I received my license to practice massage therapy. To this day I thoroughly enjoy the giving, tactile, and intuitive aspects of everything relating to massage therapy! Having learned polarity therapy, acupressure and reflexology basics during massage school, I became very attracted to all forms of energy work. In 1996, Healing Touch had recently gotten off the ground and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I was fortunate to have learned from some of the BEST instructors within the organization, "Healing Beyond Boarders."
I had my first essential-oil experience at the age of seven in 1971. My father had dropped a group of us off to see a Godzilla movie in New London, Connecticut. Being early, we walked over to the little shop adjacent to the theaters. The store fascinated me with its groovy lava lamps, blacklight posters, AND the little amber bottles on the counter. I remember reaching up to smell them and it was love at first smell! Essential oils re-entered my life in the late '80s and I've had the pleasure of using and learning about them every since!
When I am not helping people with their bodies, and heath, I am spending time with my husband Mark, who performs music professionally around town. It's fun going out now and then to play tourist and watch him entertain. We both love hiking, traveling, and walking the hills of Ho`omaluhia and along Kailua beach. Our dog JuJu bring us much joy!
